GOEIC Authority and MTS in a workshop to talk to CCI Egypt Members

As the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Egypt is keen on keeping a constant direct contact with representatives of official and governmental organizations and authorities concerned with international commerce and related regulations, CCI-Egypt is organizing meeting discussions for the benefit of CCI Egypt Members in order to facilitate doing business, illustrate new laws and regulations, and by creating  meeting opportunities between officials and representatives of governmental authorities and CCI Egypt Members, issues encountered by Egyptian companies get highlighted and solved  thanks to the commitment and cooperation of the competent authorities like Egyptian Tax Authority, Customs Authority, General Organization for Export & Import Control… etc

On Wednesday 14^th of June 2023, the Italian Chamber Of Commerce in Egypt organized a workshop in cooperation with the General Organization for Export & Import Control in presence of Eng. Essam El-Naggar- Chairman of GOEIC Authority,  Eng. Khaled Nassef Selim - Vice Chairman for Technological Affairs in   MTS, Eng. Mahmoud Sarg- Member of the Board of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, CEO of Sarg Tannery for Import & Export and Leather Tanning, Advisor to the Federation of Egyptian Industries and Chairman of Leather Export Council, and Mr. Kerollos Anwar (Secretary General of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

In this workshop, CCI Egypt wanted to highlight efforts, regulations and procedures adopted by GOEIC Authority to find solutions for the challenges encountered by the companies in the export and import process and to respond to inquiries related to (Nafeza) platform within the ACI System (Advance Cargo Information System).

The Workshop focused on the digitalization concept adopted by GOEIC authority and the electronic services provided by the organization for promoting the business sector and accelerating the pace of work.

The CEO of GOEIC authority, Eng. Essam El-Naggar, highlighted the services provided by the organization for supporting exporters and importers. Moreover, he stated that the organization plays a prominent role in increasing Egypt's exports by providing facilities and developing the organization capabilities. He illustrated that the organization developed an incomparable integral system of inspection laboratories that have propagated throughout the Country and throughout the Egyptian ports. Eng. Essam El-Naggar confirmed that a system of international accredited laboratories belongs to the GOEIC authority that can perform nearly (2000) tests in (300) advanced laboratories in GOEIC branches spread throughout Egypt.

Furthermore, Eng. Essam El-Naggar emphasized that GOEIC Authority has established a Certification Unit responsible for issuing products Certificate of Conformity  COC  which is  accredited  on international basis to reinforce the competitiveness of Egyptian Industries and assist Made-in-Egypt products  enter  global markets.

Subsequently, the Chairman of GOEIC highlighted that the ISO 17025 and ISO 17065 issued by GOEIC laboratories are currently certified internationally, and by the end of 2023, all tests and inspections performed by GOEIC laboratories will be completely certified internationally. Referring to the Approved Exporter System,  Eng. Essam El-Naggar said that this electronic platform represents a great opportunity to access foreign markets : Egyptian Exporters can be registered in the Approved Exporter System to be exempted  from submitting a certificate of origin.

After the exhaustive presentation, Eng. Essam El-Naggar paid attention to every one of the attendees who had an issue or inquiry and replied to all questions, and when necessary he advised to set meeting appointments with claimers the day after in GOEIC headquarters to find solutions for their issues, which   highlights his commitment and endeavor to help Egyptian companies and facilitate business.

After the extremely useful intervention and contribution of the Chairman of GOEIC  Authority, Eng. Khaled Nassif, Vice Chairman of  MTS Company, presented the Advance Cargo-information System (ACI System) (All you need to know about ACI System) It began its pilot operation running on marine shipments on 1, April 2021, and mandatory operation running on 1, October 2021. Eng. Khaled Nassif stated that there are 42 thousand Egyptian entity registered on NAFEZA platform: importers, freight forwarders and custom clearance agencies; while there are more than70 thousand foreign exporters registered on the Egyptian ACI System and he declared that one million and 77 ACID number has been issued until the date of the workshop.

Therefore, Eng Ahmed Mostafa, ACI Project Manager, illustrated the mechanisms of dealing with the electronic platform (NAFEZA) and he highlighted the technical steps that must be followed for shipments registration on the platform before the cargo departure from the country of origin. He responded to all inquiries raised by the attendance at the end of his presentation.

At the end of the workshop Eng. Mahmoud Sarg , CCI Egypt Board Member, awarded the commemorative shield of the Italian Chamber to Eng. Essam El-Naggar and to Eng. Khaled Nassef for their participation with the Italian Chamber of Commerce community.
