This initiative is designed to promote a new narrative on Italy’s economic outlook and attract foreign investment by highlighting the country’s strengths, many of which are not widely known.
“Business Insights from Italy” monthly issue provides important highlights and updates on Italy’s latest macroeconomic data, features with analysis of an industrial sector in Italy and provides info on policies directed to foreign investors like the Favourable tax regime for new residents.
“Business Insights from Italy – A Letter to International Investors”, is prepared by The European House – Ambrosetti in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).
Issues in 2025
December 2025 – Economic Outlook, Business Incentives and the Blue Economy: The End-of-Year Overview
The December 2025 issue opens with an update on the Italian macroeconomic context.
This is followed by an in-depth analysis of the enactment of the Incentives Code, a single and coherent framework for business support measures that will enter into force on 1 January 2026.
Finally, the monthly focus is dedicated to the maritime economic sector (the so-called “blue economy”), which in 2024 generated more than €216 billion in total value (direct, indirect and induced), accounting for 11.3% of GDP, employing 1.1 million people and comprising over 230,000 enterprises.

This November edition covers Italy’s recent macroeconomic trends, including stable GDP growth, solid labour-market performance, and stronger trade with non-EU partners. It also presents the newly approved Artificial Intelligence Law and highlights the urban regeneration sector, emerging as a major driver of economic activity, sustainability, and investment opportunities. Finally, it outlines Italy’s favourable tax regime for new residents, offering incentives for international investors and skilled professionals.

It examines the 2025 Budgetary Framework, the life sciences sector, and the favourable tax regime for new residents. The issue also highlights services for international investors and emerging investment opportunities across industrial and urban sectors.

September 2025- Italy Rises in Global Attractiveness and Advances in the Semiconductor Industry
This September 2025 issue opens, as usual, with an update on the Italian macroeconomic context. It is followed by an in-depth analysis dedicated to the Global Attractiveness Index (GAI) 2025, developed by The European House – Ambrosetti (TEHA), which ranks as many as 146 countries based on their ability to attract foreign investments.
The GAI was presented during the first week of September 2025 in Cernobbio, on the occasion of the Ambrosetti Forum, in the presence of political figures including Minister Antonio Tajani, five European Commissioners, representatives from nine Governments, as well as experts and academics.
The ranking places Italy in 16th position, marking an improvement of three places compared to 2024. Driving this progress are, in particular, the Innovation area—where Italy has entered the top ten, thanks to a significant increase in high-tech goods exports—and the Endowment area, which ranks Italy among the top 20 countries worldwide, supported by the growth of gross fixed capital formation as a share of GDP.
The document continues with a focus on the semiconductor industry, a sector in which Italy ranks second in Europe, surpassed only by Germany in terms of the number of enterprises.

August 2025- The National Complementary Plan & Detailed analysis of the logistics and infrastructure sector.
August 2025 issue begins, as usual, with an update on the Italian macroeconomic context, followed by an in-depth analysis of the National Complementary Plan (PNC), a program entirely financed by national resources, with a budget of €30.6 billion. The plan operates both autonomously and in synergy with the PNRR funds and was created to ensure the execution of projects not eligible for European funding, with the goal of reducing territorial disparities.
Finally, this issue includes a focus on the logistics and infrastructure sector. In 2024, this sector generated revenues of around €95 billion and employed 1.1 million workers. It is estimated to grow at an average annual rate of 3.67% between 2025 and 2030, reaching a turnover of €128 billion by 2030.

July 2025 - The Mattei Plan for Africa & Focus on Aerospace Sector in Italy
July 2025 issue begins with an update on the Italian macroeconomic context, and features a focus on the Mattei Plan for Africa (Piano Mattei) originated as an Italian strategic initiative aimed at redefining relations with the African Countries with the dual objective of enhancing Italy’s energy security and promoting sustainable development partnerships across the continent, by investing in infrastructure , education, renewable energy and economic opportunities.
Finally, this issue includes a focus on the Aerospace sector in Italy which generated over 18 billion euros in 2023 and employed more than 50,000 workers representing a strategic pillar sector in the Italian industrial system.

The June 2025 issue opens with an updated analysis of the Italian macroeconomic scenario and features a focus on the new Consolidated Law on Renewable Energy: a reform designed to simplify and harmonize the current authorization system.
The final section is dedicated to an in-depth look at the Green Tech industry, now recognized as one of the pillars of the national economy and a driver of employment and technological innovation. As of 2024, about 571,000 companies—equal to 39% of all non-agricultural businesses—have invested in green products and technologies, a sector that employs about 3.1 million people, signaling a structural commitment to environmental innovation.

May issue opens with an analysis of Italy’s macroeconomic scenario, followed by a focus on the reform of the public incentives system, emphasizing its importance for the country’s productive fabric.
The final section is dedicated to an in-depth look at Italian industry, which continues to be a fundamental pillar of the national economy as well as a crucial engine for employment and technological innovation. As of April 2025, for example, the industrial sector comprises around 440,000 companies and employs nearly 4 million people, confirming its strategic role within Italy’s economic system.

April 2025 issue opens with an analysis of Italy’s macroeconomic scenario and features a focus on the annual law for small and medium-sized enterprises, highlighting the importance of this topic for the national economic fabric.
The final section explores the information and communication technology sector in Italy, which, with more than 631,500 employees and approximately 132,000 companies, represents a cornerstone of the country’s innovation ecosystem and a key driver of digital transformation across all sectors.

January 2025 issue focuses on Italy’s macroeconomic aggregates and on the outlook presented in the newly introduced Medium-Term Structural Financial Plan, as required by the recent reform of European governance rules.
