Introduction: Mission & Identity of the CCIE

The mission of an Italian Chamber of Commerce Abroad (Camera di Commercio Italiana all'Estero, CCIE) is to foster economic and trade relations between Italy and the host country, providing Italian businesses and organisations with qualified advice and strategic connections through a tailored and business-oriented approach. Operating under the aegis of the Embassy of Italy in Cairo and as part of the Assocamerestero network, the CCIE acts in strict compliance with the laws of both Italy and Egypt, ensuring maximum transparency, fairness, and democratic governance.

1. General Rules of Conduct

  • Engage in proper conduct complying with standards of integrity, honesty, and transparency in all internal and external operations.
  • Strictly comply with local and EU privacy legislation regarding personal data and confidential business information.
  • Enforce full compliance with international trade laws, embargoes, and import/export controls.
  • Prevent risk of money laundering or terrorism financing by implementing robust KYC (Know Your Customer) and anti-fraud protocols.
  • Enforce mandatory self-declaration questionnaires for senior officers (President, Vice-President, Board Members, Treasurer, and Secretary General) ensuring individuals with relevant criminal records are disqualified from office.

2. Internal Relations & Workplace Integrity

  • Maintain a dignified, inclusive working environment respecting human rights and diversity.
  • Promote gender equality and equal career advancement opportunities across all Chamber appointments and operational roles.
  • Prohibit any form of harassment, discrimination, or psychological violence (mobbing) in the workplace.
  • Ensure total independence between the Secretary General role and conflicting commercial positions, upholding the official MED/Assocamerestero Profile.

3. External Relations & Public Transparency

  • Act in good faith, loyalty, and accountability with member companies, institutions, and market operators.
  • Conduct institutional representation and lobbying in strict compliance with applicable statutory regulations.
  • Ensure absolute political neutrality: Chamber premises and official channels shall not be used for party-political activities or endorsements.
  • Select suppliers and service providers based on objective criteria of quality, transparency, and cost efficiency.

4. Incompatibility & Conflicts of Interest

  • Immediate disclosure of any potential incompatibility where Chamber officers hold positions in competing private companies.
  • A formal conflict of interest register is maintained by the Board of Directors and promptly reported to Assocamerestero.
  • Recusal mechanisms: any officer or employee facing personal financial or relational interests in Chamber decisions must abstain from voting and oversight.

5. Dispute Management & Sanctions

  • Disputes regarding ethical breaches are subject to amicable resolution efforts facilitated by Assocamerestero and the Board of Presidents.
  • Sanctions tier: temporary suspension from the association (3 months to 2 years) for severe breaches or unmanaged conflicts of interest.
  • Extreme recourse: persistent unaddressed violations may lead to membership revocation and formal reporting to Italian Ministries (MIMIT and MAECI).
